Instructor John Burns - CPC, CMPA, CEMC, CH-CBS, RH-CBS COO

John Burns has worked in the healthcare arena for more than 25 years and focuses his efforts on clinical documentation improvement, correct coding, optimization of the revenue cycle and managing compliance risk for the healthcare business.  His current focus with MMI centers on providing documentation and coding reviews for clients all across the United States.

He has served as a corporate compliance officer and a civilian volunteer to the US Department of Defense. John provides professional audit services and customized training for qualified healthcare practitioners in an effort to identify areas of documentation, coding, and/or billing compliance concerns and offer strategies for risk mitigation. John is also an instructor and teaches many MMI classes (both virtual and on-site) including the Evaluation and Management Documentation and Coding curriculum. John travels extensively and has served clients in all 50 states.
